TBSC Student
At TBSC we recognise that the demands of the 21st century require an approach to education that not only fully prepares students for college but also for an ever-changing, more globally connected world.
Know our Students
We put great emphasis on a whole child approach to education that will develop and prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of today and tomorrow. This is demonstrated in our TBSC Student Profile. All students are given the opportunity and are encouraged to develop these personal qualities and transferable skills, that we believe to be the core of student development, during their experience at TBSC.
TBSC House System
The British School Caracas has a flourishing House System which is involved with many different activities throughout the year. These include sports, maths challenges, literature challenges, quizzes, music and art tasks, spelling, athletics, House Mornings, football, and much more.
The House system at The British School of Caracas has 3 principal aims:
- Vertical grouping of children, giving them a chance to make friends and have contact with other children younger or older than themselves.
- Involving as many children as possible in worthwhile activities beyond the classroom.
- Providing opportunities for pupils to accept responsibility for organising teams, events and assemblies. House captains are chosen from each of the year groups to take a particular lead in this area.
Each child when starting at the school is allocated to one of the following teams:
Andrés Bello (Green)
Miranda (Red)
Sucre (Yellow)
Bolivar (Blue)
Siblings may be placed in the same house. Children compete in a variety of activities throughout the year for their house. These points are collected by our house captains (chosen from the oldest students) and the totals are added to find the leading house. The points are accumulated throughout the year, and at Prize Giving, the overall winning house is presented with the Britannia Shield.
